While eagerly awaiting the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many are revisiting the classic DOOM games. Good news! A recent update for the DOOM + DOOM 2 compilation has significantly enhanced the experience.

This update boasts improved technical stability and more. Crucially, it now supports multiplayer modifications created using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative play has been upgraded with shared item pickup and an observer mode for players awaiting revival. Network code optimization further enhances the multiplayer experience. The mod loader's capacity has also been increased, handling significantly more than the initial 100+ mod subscription limit.

Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, accessibility is a core design principle. The game will offer unprecedented customization options, exceeding those found in previous id Software titles. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasizes the team's commitment to broad accessibility.

Players will have extensive control over enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and other key gameplay elements such as pacing, enemy aggression, and parry timing. Stratton also confirms that prior DOOM experience isn't required to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and its connection to DOOM: Eternal.
