In a February 13, 2025 IGN interview with lead designer Ed Beach, the possibility of Gandhi's return was addressed. While not immediately planned, Beach confirmed that Gandhi's inclusion as DLC is a possibility.
Beach clarified the omission of certain historical figures and civilizations from the initial Civ VII lineup. He stated that the decision to exclude some favorites, such as Great Britain or India, stemmed from the sheer number of popular choices. The developers aimed to introduce fresh and exciting options while acknowledging the anticipation surrounding the return of established favorites. "Things are getting left behind, but we always are looking at the big picture, when we're going to bring leaders or civs into the fold. So there's hope for Gandhi, yet," Beach explained.
Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, the prospect of Gandhi's eventual arrival in Civ VII appears likely. However, a concrete release date remains unconfirmed.
