Nu Udra: Habitat, Weak Points & Effective Strategies

Known Habitats: Oilwell Basin

Breakable Parts: Head and Arms

Recommended Elemental Attack: Water

Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (1x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (2x)

Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap

Taming the Tentacles

Nu Udra's formidable tentacles present a significant challenge. Their wide reach makes dodging difficult, but they also offer a prime target for melee fighters. Severing the arms yields valuable materials, but proceed with caution—these limbs pack a powerful punch.

Targeting the Mouth

Ranged weapon users have more options, but the mouth remains the optimal target, boasting a 4-star weakness. While harder to spot due to Nu Udra's dark hide, its vulnerability makes it worth the effort. The head is another viable option, with a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, and remains effective for blunt and cut damage.

Harnessing the Power of Watermoss

Nu Udra's fire affinity necessitates strategic countermeasures. In addition to its physical attacks, it unleashes fiery assaults, potentially inflicting the debilitating Fireblight debuff. Deploying Watermoss is highly recommended to mitigate this threat and allow for safer attacks.

Embrace Fire Resistance

Fortify your defense against Nu Udra's fiery attacks with fire-resistant gear. The Quematrice armor set, with its inherent Fire Resistance skill, is a strong recommendation. Supplement this with decorations that reduce elemental damage, such as the Fire Res Jewel or the Stream Jewel (which also boosts Water Attack).

Evading the Grasp

Nu Udra's grab attack is arguably its most dangerous move. If caught within its tentacles, it will unleash a fiery blast. React swiftly—use a knife to break free, or utilize your Slinger to exploit a weak point during the brief pause.

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the beast to near-death (indicated by a skull icon next to its health bar). Lure it into the trap using meat, or strategically position yourself behind it as it targets you. Once trapped, swiftly administer a Tranquilizer—you have approximately five seconds before it breaks free.

Mastering the strategies outlined above will significantly increase your chances of defeating and capturing Nu Udra. Should you find the challenge too daunting, don't hesitate to enlist the help of fellow hunters in multiplayer mode.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
