Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 in Fun Video Marking 10M RE4 Players
Capcom has cleverly teased Resident Evil 9 right under our noses. In a celebration of reaching an impressive 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team released a celebratory video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong whispering to a notorious villain, followed by a scene where Leon is surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats as they stroll towards a church.
The video then shifts to a rock song, with Dr. Salvador humorously playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar. The camera pans back to reveal Leon energetically fist-pumping, with a rustic sign behind him that reads "Thank you for playing."

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed something intriguing: when the sign is turned on its side, the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," which represents the number 9. While it might seem coincidental, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that there is no lower plank on the same sign in earlier parts of the video, suggesting this was an intentional addition.
"I know what you did here," said one surprised viewer, adding a wide-eyed emoji to their comment.
Capcom has also confirmed that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7. Nakanishi said at the time, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." It's rumored, though not officially confirmed, that the game will be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
