Camo Challenge Tracking in Black Ops 6 Explained

Jun 20,25

Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is now live, bringing with it a brand-new feature designed to streamline your progression experience. One of the most anticipated additions is the Camo Challenge Tracking system—an intuitive tool that makes unlocking camos and calling cards more efficient and user-friendly. Below is a concise breakdown of how this new feature works and how you can make the most of it.

Simplified Camo Challenge Tracking in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

According to the latest patch notes, the new Challenge Tracker allows players to manually follow up to 10 Camo and 10 Calling Card Challenges simultaneously. But there's more than just manual tracking—Treyarch has also added a “Near Completion” notification system. This means even if a challenge isn’t actively being tracked, the game will notify you when you're close to finishing it, helping you chase those coveted rewards like Dark Matter, Nebula, or the elite 100 Percenter status.

This system removes the need to constantly return to the main menu to check your progress. Instead, you can view your selected challenges directly during gameplay, keeping your focus on the action while staying informed about your progression goals.

How to Track Camo and Calling Card Challenges in Black Ops 6

To begin tracking a specific challenge:

  1. Navigate to the Camo or Calling Card challenge you'd like to monitor.
  2. Press the Y button (Xbox) or Triangle (PlayStation) to add that challenge to your tracker.

Once added, you can review your progress in real-time during matches, allowing for smarter playstyle adjustments to meet challenge requirements without interrupting your flow.

Even if you don't manually select challenges, the system intelligently auto-fills your tracker with challenges closest to completion. You can always access this list from the lobby under the Daily Challenge section, where all "near complete" camos and calling cards are displayed for easy reference.

Streamlined Special Camo Unlock Requirements

In addition to the tracking system, Season 2 introduces a major change in how special camos are unlocked. Previously, players needed to unlock nine military camos before accessing a special camo. Now, that requirement has been reduced to just five military camos, making progression feel less grind-heavy.

However, unlocking two special camos remains a prerequisite for obtaining mastery camos—a nod to veteran players who enjoy the prestige of full weapon mastery.

A Positive Step Forward Based on Player Feedback

The overwhelming number of camos per weapon and the lack of visibility into progress had long been pain points for many players. With this update, Treyarch demonstrates responsiveness to community feedback by introducing a more transparent and rewarding progression system. This makes earning and equipping camos not only more achievable but also more enjoyable across Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
