Call of Duty: Warzone Experiencing Lobby Crashing Issue

Jan 26,25

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in undeserved penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.

Temporary Fix Implemented:

Following player reports of widespread freezing and crashing issues during loading screens, starting January 6th, Raven Software investigated the problem. Although the root cause remains unpatched (as of the Trello bug report), a crucial update on January 9th suspended Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns over unfair penalties stemming from the bug. Penalties will still apply for players leaving matches mid-game.

Background and Impact:

2024 presented significant challenges for the Call of Duty franchise and Raven Software. Previous incidents included temporary matchmaking outages and ongoing issues with cheating and bugs. This latest loading screen glitch adds to the ongoing difficulties, particularly impacting Ranked play where SR is crucial. While a major update launched in early January 2025, the bug persists, highlighting the ongoing need for further fixes.

Current Status:

While the temporary penalty suspension offers immediate relief, players eagerly await a complete resolution to the underlying loading screen crash issue. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the development team in maintaining a stable and enjoyable gaming experience.
