Treyarch is marking 115 Day with an exciting mystery box of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, headlined by the reveal of a brand new map called The Tomb. This January 15 celebration is a special holiday for Call of Duty players, featuring a comprehensive blog breakdown of all the upcoming zombie-themed surprises. The spotlight of today’s announcements shines on The Tomb, a sandy new Zombies map set to debut with the launch of Season 2 on January 28. This new addition to the Zombies universe comes hot on the heels of Season 1’s Citadelle des Morts, with less than two weeks to wait.

Treyarch provides a first glimpse into The Tomb, describing it as an excavation site where the characters Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya follow Gabriel Krafft’s last words to secure the Sentinel Artifact. This map is built on ancient burial grounds with origins tracing back to 2500 B.C.E., untouched until the early 1900s. The mysteries beneath these catacombs are said to run deeper than anyone could imagine. The map has ties to a British archeologist named Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, though how it connects to the broader Zombies narrative remains undisclosed.

In terms of gameplay, The Tomb is set to offer an experience akin to Liberty Falls, the small-town map that debuted with Black Ops 6 in October. This suggests tighter play spaces designed for high replayability as players uncover the numerous Easter eggs hidden within. Additionally, Treyarch teases a reimagined Wonder Weapon inspired by the game’s past and the return of a fan-favorite SMG, though specifics are yet to be revealed.

Season 2 also promises a host of quality-of-life improvements and new features long requested by the community. Players will soon be able to track up to 10 Calling Card challenges and 10 Camo challenges in both Zombies and Multiplayer modes. Zombies mode will also introduce a co-op pause option, enabling the party leader to pause matches mid-run. Furthermore, HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be separated, and players will have the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadout if disconnected.

To celebrate 115 Day, Black Ops 6 players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and the battle pass until 10am PT on January 21. Treyarch also shared impressive stats on the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing that players have invested over 480 million hours into Black Ops 6 Zombies. The team’s goal with Directed Mode was to grow the Zombies community by guiding new players through Main Quests, and the results are promising: the average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled since its launch, rising from 3.38% on November 14 to 8.23% today.

As anticipation builds for The Tomb, fans are eager to hear the voices of their favorite Zombies characters. Last month, Activision confirmed the recasting of some beloved characters due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
