One of *Avowed*'s earliest and most impactful choices revolves around the Splinter of Eothas and what you do with it. Giving the splinter to Sargamis has dramatically different outcomes, ranging from bad to worse, and even surprisingly good. This *Avowed* guide details the consequences of giving Sargamis the Splinter.

Avowed Sargamis Battle

Refusing Sargamis the splinter sets you up for a confrontation. He becomes an optional boss fight, a challenging early-game encounter. He summons spirit creatures and utilizes swift, powerful sword attacks. However, he's vulnerable to ice spells, making them a valuable tool in this fight. Defeating Sargamis rewards you with the Last Light of Day mace, a unique weapon with health regeneration and fire damage bonuses.

Avowed Sargamis Statue

Agreeing to give Sargamis the splinter presents several paths. You can persuade him to place himself in the statue, resulting in his death and yielding the Last Light of Day mace. Alternatively, you can offer yourself to the statue, leading to another branching decision. Standing in the designated circle and waiting for Sargamis to activate the machine leads to your death and the "Get In The Statue, Envoy" achievement (though reloading will return you to before the activation). Leaving the circle before activation, however, provokes Sargamis into attacking you.

Avowed Sargamis Conversation

The ideal outcome involves convincing Sargamis his plan is flawed. This requires an Intellect stat of 4 or higher. (Refer to our *Avowed* respec guide for attribute adjustments). Placing the splinter in the statue *before* speaking with Sargamis, activating the machine, and then showing him the futility of his plan will lead him to abandon it. Specific background choices, such as Court Augur and Arcane Scholar, seem to facilitate this path, though each background may offer a unique route to the same result. Crucially, avoid the intellect option concerning live soul transfer. After Sargamis departs, you decide whether to allow the voice to use the statue or destroy it yourself. Finally, speak with Sargamis in his quarters to complete this part of the Dawntreader quest, earning more experience than through combat or simply handing over the splinter.
