Anointing Guide for Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2)

Apr 06,25

In the thrilling world of *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's power is key to mastering the game. Anointing is one of the advanced techniques you can use to boost your amulets and Waystones, but it's not available until later in your journey. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to anoint in *Path of Exile 2*.

How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2

To anoint your items, you'll need Distilled Emotions, which you can only obtain from Delirium Maps. These are similar to Blight Oils from the original game, and there are ten types: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering. Completing Delirium Maps will reward you with a random assortment of these emotions. Alternatively, you can acquire them through currency exchange or the trade market.

If you're looking to upgrade your Distilled Emotions, head to the Reforging Bench. Here, you can combine three of the same type to create an upgraded version, giving you more control over your anointing process.

For those seeking a challenge, Simulacrum waves offer a chance to drop Distilled Emotions. However, this method is less efficient than Delirium Maps and requires a robust build to tackle the increased difficulty.

How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2

Anointing can be applied to both amulets and Waystones. Keep in mind that *Path of Exile 2* is still in Early Access, so more anointing options might be added in future updates. To anoint an amulet, select any Distilled Emotion to open the Instilling window. Place your amulet in the center box and three Distilled Emotions in the bottom boxes. The specific emotions needed for the desired anointing ability are listed in the Passive Skill Tree. Simply hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt on your keyboard or R3 on your controller to see the requirements.

The skills you choose to anoint will vary based on your build, and remember, anointing isn't permanent. You can re-anoint your amulet by repeating the process, allowing you to adapt your skills to your current build as needed.

The same anointing process applies to Waystones, which can make them more challenging but also yield better loot. However, you cannot anoint corrupted items, whether they are amulets or Waystones.

With this guide, you're now equipped to enhance your amulets and Waystones through anointing, tailoring your build for optimal performance or challenging yourself further in *Path of Exile 2*.

*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
