"New Alien: Earth Trailer Unveiled, Showcases Xenomorph and Nods to 1979 Classic"

A new trailer for the much-anticipated TV series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, giving fans an exhilarating glimpse into what's in store. The trailer, initially showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared by @CineGeekNews on X/Twitter, and it's already generating buzz. It depicts the harrowing journey of a spaceship's survivors, ravaged by a Xenomorph, as they hurtle towards Earth.

The trailer not only showcases the new Xenomorph design but also strikes a chord with its homage to Ridley Scott's iconic 1979 horror masterpiece. The setting inside a MU/TH/UR control room mirrors the Nostromo's, where Ripley uncovered the crew's dire situation. In the trailer, a crew member desperately seeks help as the Xenomorph wreaks havoc, while Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly reports the loose "specimens," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship on a collision course with Earth. The trailer then transitions to a group of six soldiers approaching what appears to be the crashed ship, setting the stage for intense encounters.

The trailer raises several intriguing questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives his actions? Are there any other survivors, and could anyone be carrying a Xenomorph embryo? How will the soldiers meet their fate? These queries set up the gripping premise of Alien: Earth, where a mysterious crashed vessel leads a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers to a discovery that confronts them with Earth's greatest threat.

PlayFX's Alien series is set in 2120, fitting neatly into the timeline between Prometheus and the events of the original Alien. This placement has sparked speculation that Alien: Earth might show the Nostromo's departure from Earth or reveal how Weyland-Yutani learned about the Xenomorphs. For context, the recently released Alien: Romulus is an interquel set between Alien and Aliens.

In January of last year, showrunner Noah Hawley shared his vision for Alien: Earth, explaining his decision to steer away from the backstory established in Prometheus. Hawley, who consulted with Ridley Scott on various aspects of the series, opted for the "retro-futurism" of the original films over the bioweapon narrative, aiming to stay true to the lore that fans cherish.

Mark your calendars: Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Additionally, fans can look forward to Alien: Romulus 2, which is currently in development.
