Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series
Imagine the excitement as Alicia Silverstone steps back into the iconic yellow and plaid outfit, reprising her role as Cher Horowitz in a new Clueless sequel series set to stream on Peacock. The project, currently in development, promises to be a direct continuation of the beloved story from the 1995 film, though plot details remain under wraps for now. This marks a fresh approach, distinct from Peacock's previously announced Clueless spin-off in 2020.
The creative team behind this eagerly awaited series is impressive, featuring Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the masterminds behind the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot. They'll be joined by Jordan Weiss to write and executive produce the show. The original Clueless writer-director, Amy Heckerling, and producer Robert Lawrence are also on board as executive producers, ensuring a faithful homage to the original. CBS Studios and Universal Television will produce the series, adding to the anticipation.
This isn't the first time Clueless has made the leap to television. Following the film's success, a TV adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard taking on the role of Cher.
