Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Steam Early Access, the Deep Woods have been tantalizingly marked on the town map, yet remained inaccessible—until the March 2025 update. This guide reveals how to unlock this new area and find Caldarus.

Unlocking the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria*

The Deep Woods unlock hinges on breaking the Fire Seal and utilizing the newly acquired Dragon's Breath spell to melt away the obstructing vines. This requires a specific offering to the Priestess's Fire Seal altar (Floor 60 of the mines): a Faceted Rock Gem, Rockroot, Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items are found between floors 50 and 59. Obtaining the scroll requires a little help.

To get the Sealing Scroll, leave these items in the bin near Balor's wagon: 10 Silver Ingots, 10 Rubies, 10 Sapphires, and 10 Emeralds. Afterward, speak to Balor; the scroll will arrive the following day. Once the offering is complete, expect an unexpected twist. The Priestess's words warn of unforeseen consequences, and your health plummets. Caldarus, appearing in human form, intervenes, retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to recover. He then grants you the Dragon's Breath spell.

Dragon's Breath isn't just for clearing the Deep Woods entrance; it unlocks other previously inaccessible areas. Equip it from the pause menu and use it in front of blocked areas for permanent access.

Finding Caldarus

Caldarus awaits within his temple in the Deep Woods, north of the Eastern Road. Use Dragon's Breath to access the area. His location is clearly marked on your map. He's in the northeast corner, beyond a stump requiring an axe to clear.

After unlocking the Deep Woods, use the Dragon Statue on your farm for quick travel (10 Essence). While you can visit Caldarus directly, you can still interact with him through his statue.
