Feb 24,25

HBO's critically acclaimed The Last of Us series is slated for a four-season run, according to an executive.

Francesca Orsi of HBO indicated that a four-season arc is the current projection for the hit show, though she emphasized that no definitive plan is finalized. "While I can't confirm it definitively, it's looking like this season, followed by two more, and then we're done," Orsi told Deadline.

Regarding the highly anticipated Season 2 premiere in April 2025, Orsi offered a glimpse: "The various factions vying for survival will be revealed, showcasing a compelling survivalist group with a unique and distinct presentation." She highlighted the show's distinctive approach to wardrobe and makeup for these characters.

Those who missed Season 1 still have time to catch up before Season 2's April premiere. Unlike Season 1, which adapted the entire first game, Season 2 will expand upon The Last of Us Part II, spanning multiple episodes. A "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes is planned for this season.

Several new actors join the cast, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role remains undisclosed.

IGN's review of The Last of Us Season 1 lauded it as "a stunning adaptation that will captivate newcomers and resonate with fans familiar with Joel and Ellie's journey," earning a remarkable 9/10 score.
