May 2025 PS Plus Game Linked to Hollywood Movie

May 14,25

It seems that a leak has surfaced suggesting that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, might be available as a free download for PlayStation Plus members in May 2025. While Sony has yet to confirm this, the leaked key art indicates it could be the Until Dawn Remastered version rather than the original 2014 release. We will keep you updated as soon as official information is released.

PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and exclusive member discounts. It also features a vast catalog of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members, though the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.

Community speculation on the PlayStation subreddit (as noted by PushSquare) suggests this move might be tied to the recent release of the Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie received a lukewarm reception, earning a 5/10 score from us at IGN. Our review stated, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

Similarly, the 2024 remaster of Until Dawn also scored a 5/10, with our review criticizing it as an "overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 game from Supermassive Games was more favorably received, garnering a 7.5/10.

In other PlayStation Plus news, 22 games are slated to be removed from the service next month, including popular titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the final playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This removal will result in Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 becoming unavailable on modern consoles.
