Piston requires a separate ELM327 Bluetooth or WiFi adapter. It's compatible with OBD-II (OBDII, OBD2) and EOBD standards. Most US vehicles manufactured from 1996 onward support OBD2. In the EU, EOBD was mandated for petrol cars from 2001 and diesel cars from 2004. Australia and New Zealand adopted OBD2 for petrol cars from 2006 and diesel cars from 2007.

Important: Piston only accesses data your vehicle provides through the OBD2 standard.
