The Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems are essential tools for individuals managing diabetes. These systems provide real-time glucose readings every five minutes, specifically designed for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, and are approved for use in children aged 2 years and older. With the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro, you can monitor your glucose levels without the need for fingersticks for treatment decisions, as long as your symptoms align with the readings.*
One of the core features of the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro is the ability to receive alarms and alerts based on your glucose levels. These systems keep you informed about your glucose number and its trajectory, helping you make informed decisions about your diabetes management. Personalized trend alerts are sent directly to your smart device, allowing you to quickly respond when your glucose levels are too high or too low.
The Alert Schedule feature** enhances your ability to customize your monitoring experience. You can set up a second set of alerts tailored to different times of the day, such as work hours, ensuring you're never caught off-guard. Custom alert sounds, including a Vibrate-Only option on your phone, provide flexibility, though the Urgent Low Alarm cannot be turned off for safety reasons.
With the Always Sound setting** enabled by default, you'll continue to receive critical Dexcom CGM Alerts even if your phone is set to silent, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb mode. This ensures you stay informed about Urgent Low Alarms, Low and High Glucose alerts, Urgent Low Soon Alerts**, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts**. A convenient Home screen icon indicates whether your alerts will sound or not. For your safety, certain critical alerts like the Urgent Low Alarm, Transmitter Failed, Sensor Failed, and App Stopped cannot be silenced.
Additional features of the Dexcom G6 include the ability to Share** your glucose data with up to ten followers in real time using the Dexcom Follow** app, which requires an internet connection. Health Connect access allows you to share retrospective glucose data with third-party apps. The Quick Glance feature lets you view your glucose data directly on your smart device's lock screen. For those using Wear OS devices, integration allows you to receive glucose alerts and alarms directly on your watch.
*Fingersticks are required for diabetes management decisions if symptoms do not match readings.
**Not available on Dexcom G6 Pro System.
