Dive into the timeless fun of the classic offline 29 Card Game, playable anytime, anywhere! Also known as the 28 Card Game with slight rule variations, this beloved South Asian trick-taking game has the Jack and Nine as the highest-ranking cards in each suit.
Typically enjoyed by four players in fixed partnerships, where partners sit opposite each other, 29 uses 32 cards from a standard 52-card deck. Each of the four "French" suits—hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades—contains eight cards. The cards rank from high to low: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7. The objective is to capture tricks with valuable cards.
The scoring system assigns points to cards as follows:
- Jacks - 3 points each
- Nines - 2 points each
- Aces - 1 point each
- Tens - 1 point each
- Other cards (K, Q, 8, 7) - no points
This sums up to 28 points from the cards. In some versions, an additional point is awarded for the last trick, making a total of 29 points—hence the game's name. However, many modern players do not count the last trick, yet the game retains its name as 29 even when played for 28 points.
The discarded Twos, Threes, Fours, and Fives from the full deck serve as trump indicators, with each player receiving one of each suit. Meanwhile, the Sixes are used for keeping score, with each partnership utilizing one red and one black Six.
